Recently Enjoyed...

I love my iphone. I really don´t want to be one of "these" people who say this, but I´m pretty obsessed with taking photos, editing them with the ABeautifulMess-App and maybe putting them on instagram.

So here are some snapshots of my past few weeks...

EPP - Monday Morning EPP Count

Okay, it´s not Monday Morning, not anywhere in the world any more, it´s Wednesday, but anyways...

It´s been pretty hot over here, warmest July since 1957, and the last week it was extrem, so even sewing indoors, with all windows and blinds closed was no real option, so my progress isn´t that great.

10 and a half rows sewn together, only 3.5 to go. Every row complete it will be about 1.80/1.30m (which is about 70/51 for all non-metric readers).
I think this is a pretty decent size, since there will be binding and a little boarder, I think am pleased with this.

No real update with the other projects, again, it´s been to hot for anything...

Okay, that´s not really true, I´ve started to bast a few little 2cm hexies out of my leftovers, I read about doing this right after cutting other projects so you are using your leftovers right away and don´t have to do that lot of basting a once. I thought this is a pretty neat idea, especially, there is no big "blanket" lying over my knees when I´m basting this little babies...

EPP - Monday Morning EPP Count

So here is my Monday Morning EPP Update. First of all I have to say, whoever reads this via Jessicas Webside and her Monday Morning Star Count: Thank you! I loved all the nice comments about my work the other week, I enjoyed the feeling that somebody actually read this, and the weekly updates on the LifeUnderQuilts webside really really really are motivating me! Again, thank you so much!

So...
No news on the pink and beige quilt front. But you see, some projects have to wait a while to get really awesome... Or maybe I´m just to intimidated about adding the boarder... We will see what happens this week.

Update on the big hexies:

I´ve sewn together 6 rows, the "blanket" is now 17 hexies long and about 50cm wide (anout 20inches). I have 5 finished rows on hold, just waitin´to be dewn to the big piece.
This will not be enough rows I think, but we will see. I think I will change the order of the not yet sewn together hexies, maybe I will insert new rows (I´m running out of parts of my original fabriques, which were leftovers, intruducing the new ones asap will bring the nicest look I think.)

Last but not least, my copy of Jessica Alexandrakis book arrived the other week!!
I think it´s pretty fantastique, I loved looking through it, and I had to try one little project out of it before I finish my other ones in line.
So last evening I put away the colourful hexies and gave her pincushion a go. It was a nice and quick project, finished in one evening.
So this is my first finished EPP project! Wohoooooo!!!

EPP Progress On Wednesday

Hm, I've done a lot of sewing this week. That's a plus.

I haven't really started my bachelor thesis yet. That's a minus, a big one, a downer, and a real problem.
But I will start today, I will, I promise...

PS: I've joined the ABeautifulMess 30-days-selfportrait-challenge.
This is my first one.

So long...

EPP - Monday Morning EPP Count

It's monday again, so let's update my EPP progress so far.

My pink and beige blanket?
I had big problems with the boarder, so I decided to applice it to a big piece of fabric to get an even finish. This hasn't happend yet, but the big piece came out of the washing mashine yesterday and now I just have to iron it and we are ready to start...

Haha, feet...

My pillow? Nearly finished! I just have to do the boarder and the back! Yippieh!

Aaaaand... I had to start something new, there is no way I'm able to hold my hands still at the moment.
Since I decided to gove the blanket to a really sweet baby girl I'm starting on a new one for myself.
So far I've done 180 colourful hexies with 6cm sides each. If started my first stripe with 17 hexies.
And I love love love the look of it so far!
I'm wondering if I will add some more fabirque colours, but I don't know yet, we will see...

I'm linking up with Jessicas Life under quilts blog and her quiltalong. I'm really inspired by all the beautiful projects linked up every week, and I'm thrilled about to see everyones progress every week. It's great to see all these projects, even though they are produced all over the world!

Progess...

Progress on my EPP-Pillow!

I finished the sewing, appliqueted it to some backdrop and did the quilting!

Now I just have to wait until the back-fabric is washed and dry, and we are nearly done!

Whoop, whoop!

Up to the next - New EPP Happy Summer Quilt

I ran out of fabric for my Pink-Beige-Quilt-Boarder, so while waiting for the next day and shops open again, I started a new project.

This will be my first quilt I will (propably) keep, so I decided to try and use mostly really bright colours, AND use a lot of my leftovers I have collected over the years.

I will use bigger hexies (6cm sides) and they will be sewn together without any rules and pattern.
I'm really looking forward to this one and am soooo excited!

First peakes...

Project #16 - Cosy Knitted Blanket

So this is what I did all winter long.

I finished this blanket about two month ago, but never came round to post it. But now is the time.

I went to shop for colours and ended up with this:

(While knitting I had to add a seventh colour because they run out of some other colours and I couldn´t stopp knitting until the new order arrived...)

At home a created this sheet, just to have simple plan to follow and know what will be next.

The nummbers are the amount of rows each colour block had

And then I started to knit... (30 stiches, between 26 to 28 rows in each colour; I didn´t count while knitting my first string, so the numbers were really helpful...)

And knit...

And knit...

And knit...

Someone really enjoyed my work while still in progress...

And then my plan was complete! Whohoooo!
But since the knitting was really wobbly I added a crochted boarder all around. Just to simply rows all around. I used all the little leftovers I had kept, so it turned out really colourful.

I really love the texture of the blanket now, and it really fells cozy and comfy, but the wool is not that wooly and hot, so it don´t has to went to the closet while summer but still is in use on cooler summer evenings or rainy days.

Someone still loves it very much :)

Project #15 - Beaded Statement Necklace Nr.2

And then I had to do another staement nacklace when I saw this on http://www.abeautifulmess.com/ .

What you need:
- beads (I can tell you I have a lot lot lot of beads at home, so I chose just one colour direction)
- head pins (I used about 2 packs with 20 pins each)
- chain, fastener
- jewelry pliers and wire cutters

1) Start by adding some beads to your first pin. Twist it onto the chain by creating a loop with your clippers. Trim the excess wire. I started in the middle of the chain and worked my way to the left and rigtht.

2) Repeat until you like the look of it. I added the pins with bigger space between each one and then filled up the space between them, but that was just my way to work through.

3) Cut your chain to whatever lengh you think looks right and add the fastener.

4) Adore yourself and your new jewelery infront of the mirror

Enjoy!
