Monday Morning EPP Count August 2015 Part Two

Last time I asked what expierences others had with glue basting, I was a little mew about it. The respones where great, the ideas, advice and concerns of others really helped, thanks to all the other quilters out there!

After two weeks of use, I think I've come to terms with it, and I mean this in the most positive way.
I changed the glue (no elmers school glue around here available, but I use a brand of a local discounter) and paper (much smoother surface now) I use, and it makes all the differnce.
This change of products was simple coincidence, just run out of the old stuff and this was all I could get, but man, I love it.

Now I am addicted to glue basting, it goes oh so quick and easy, basted 42 rectangles and six hexies in under a hour!

And this is my progress so far...

The big piece looks like this:

Hope you don`t mind the kid, use it as reference...

Six stars have been sewn together (3 already connected to the big piece):

42 star pieces are waiting for me:

Best news, now I know what this quilt will be. I wasn't sure a long time, so I was uncertain about the colours I'm using.
This will be another one for my sweet little A (see her first one here). It will be smaller, so it covers her while taking naps during the day in her bed. I seek for a size about 150x135cm (about 60x53 inch).

And since I knew this, I decided to go for some more girlier fabriques too.
I'm using the salmony fabrique again, which is really special for me because it was part of As bassinet and also her first blanket.

So now the colour scheme is really bright and colourful, and it think I have enough stars and colours to finish, we will see how this goes, maybe I should lay everything out to get a better image of the size...

Hope you like what you see!

Monday Morning EPP Count August 2015

It's Monday! Maybe the one thing which makes mondays "okay" is the MondayMorningStarCount.
For sure I'm excited about it every monday.

Two stars have been finished this last week.

One of those has already been used in the "big" piece. Which now looks loke this:

And last evening, with the kid in bed and the boy watching TV, I was able to bast pieces for three more stars plus eight hexies. Not till I took those pictures did I recognize I basted one too many piece in orange. Hmpf, I was so IN the process.

This is my first time using the glue basting technique. First I was totally excited about it. It is so quick, which is a big plus nowadays.
However, while I was freeing the first pieces the other day and was really flashed by the one big minus, and I know this should be really obvious but did not occur to me while all my excitement. When you pull the paper off of the fabrique you probably tear it apart. Hm, bummer. I was able to use most of the pieces at least a second time, and since I print and cut them all by myself it's okay, but it means little of the time I safe by glueing is spend in cutting the templates. So far this is fine by me, maybe I'll change something up while on the go, there is still a long way ahead of finishing this one...

I'm curious, what is your opinion, do you like glue-basting? What are your experiences?
