When I saw this clutch on Pinterest, I knew I had to sew a clutch! And I loved the triangle pattern.
(The bag is no longer available, but it´s been from the side bookhou , they sell wonderful bags and pouches!)
I dreamed about sewing a clutch since I read this post on Elise Blahas Page.
And I wanted to try hand stamping for a long time, so this was the perfect opportunity to try both.
First I had to produce a stamp.
Mine is made out of an old eraser, which I find hilarious, because this technique is called rubber stencil, and I learnd a eraser is called "a rubber" (This has been in primary school and my austrian teacher learned English while staying in GB). I think it is not funny unless your FL is not English, but anyway...
Back to business... My stamp was simple cut out of an old eraser with a knife and a scraper. I first used a pencil to draw my pattern, and then cut and sraped.
For stamping I used black fabrique paint. I bought a thick white fabrique at IKEA, because the thickness of this gives the whole clutch some body.
And then I stamped...
Noe the actual clutch sewing started.
I followed this fab tutorial via Elise´s page. It is from pretty www.makeit-loveit.com/ and is simple and has great pictures. So please follow this tutorial, I thought it was unneccesary to write a new one since this one is simple and very good.
And this is how my attempt turned out:
Originally I planed to use it the first time when celebrating my birthday the other week, but then the weather has still been very hot and a choose to wear another outfit, so the clutch is still in waiting line and sits on a chair in my entrance hall. I smile everytime I pass, I love it when something I did is useful and pretty!
Enjoy!
Wow good idea for weddings and unexpected parties!!
