Monday Morning EPP Count August 2015

It's Monday! Maybe the one thing which makes mondays "okay" is the MondayMorningStarCount.
For sure I'm excited about it every monday.

Two stars have been finished this last week.

One of those has already been used in the "big" piece. Which now looks loke this:

And last evening, with the kid in bed and the boy watching TV, I was able to bast pieces for three more stars plus eight hexies. Not till I took those pictures did I recognize I basted one too many piece in orange. Hmpf, I was so IN the process.

This is my first time using the glue basting technique. First I was totally excited about it. It is so quick, which is a big plus nowadays.
However, while I was freeing the first pieces the other day and was really flashed by the one big minus, and I know this should be really obvious but did not occur to me while all my excitement. When you pull the paper off of the fabrique you probably tear it apart. Hm, bummer. I was able to use most of the pieces at least a second time, and since I print and cut them all by myself it's okay, but it means little of the time I safe by glueing is spend in cutting the templates. So far this is fine by me, maybe I'll change something up while on the go, there is still a long way ahead of finishing this one...

I'm curious, what is your opinion, do you like glue-basting? What are your experiences?

As always I'm linking up with Jessicas MondayMorningStarCount over at lifeunderquilts.com

  1. I must admit I've not tried glue basting before, and now I'm not sure I will as I buy templates so like to get at least 3 uses out of them. Your stars are looking great!

  2. Great progress! I haven't tried the glue basting. I buy the templates and try to make them last as long as possible.

  3. These look great so far. I've never tried glue basting with my EPP, but I like to reuse my papers, so I think I'll stick to thread basting!

  4. Your stars look great! I used to always thread baste but it was a bit hard on my hands. (I work on a computer all day long at work and that doesn't help!) I tried using the Sewline fabric glue pen and love it. It's easier on my hands and I think it's much faster than thread basting, which is a big plus for me. It's a bit pricey and not always easy to find the refills, though. But, if I use a light touch, the papers separate from the fabric very easily and I'm able to reuse my paper pieces several times. I've also heard that the Elmer school glue sticks are washable and remove easily but haven't tried them yet.
